From January 2012, trucks and larger vans entering Greater London will need to meet
tighter emissions standards, or face paying a penalty of up to £200 per day, as the
LEZ becomes stricter. The new requirements mean larger vans will now need to be Euro
III compliant, and trucks will need to be Euro IV compliant.
Which vehicles are affected?
The new requirements, which run 24/7, every day of the year, are enforced by camera in and around the LEZ and leave drivers with several options outside of simply avoiding the Greater London area.
Fit a filter
Fitting an approved filter to your exhaust can reduce your vehicle’s emissions enough to meet the new standards, however ordering and fitting the filter and getting it certified can be a lengthy process.
Replace a vehicle
New vehicles have lower emissions that meet the LEZ standards and so do some second hand vehicles. Our new and used vehicles sales team at Grays Truck and Van will be happy to sit and discuss the best options for you and your fleet of vehicles. Whether it is an Iveco Truck or Van or a Ford Van Grays Truck and Van are here to help you consider your options. Contact us here for further information.
Convert to gas
You can convert your vehicle to run on pure gas with a spark ignition, using an approved conversion. However, if your vehicle is registered in Great Britain you’ll need to register the conversion with the DVLA and obtain a certificate from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency
Pay the daily charge!
Drivers of vehicles that don’t meet the requirements can enter the LEZ for a “small” fee of either £100 or £200 a day!
